As Pathstream scales to help the next 100,000 frontline workers acquire new skills and unlock their potential, we are seeking a PM for Platform Scaling whose mission is to identify and address technical bottlenecks to growth. You will focus on helping us develop our learning experience platform and internal tools. Coming out of this role, you will have gained a holistic perspective across go-to-market and engineering as to what it takes to build a scalable platform that drives a fast-growing business.

To succeed in this role, you should be data driven and tech savvy and able to break down complex problems into elegant solutions. You should have experience building products where the stakeholders are internal teams. You will partner with engineering to identify and scope the critical work needed to build a resilient technical foundation and connect platform work to business outcomes. You will also partner with our internal stakeholders to understand operational pain points and ensure they have the tools to support our growing user base. You should be comfortable working with executive stakeholders and navigating the dynamics and change of an early stage startup environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments and have an adaptable and collaborative approach to tackling tough problems with a mission-driven team.

At Pathstream, our mission is to create the most accessible and effective career opportunities to the high-priority jobs in this current economy. Since 2018, over 30,000 workers have used Pathstream’s skillbuilding and coaching to turn their frontline work into a career. We accelerate growth for employers by increasing the skills of their most valuable asset, their employees. Additionally, we unlock growth potential for the individual through interactive learning programs that feature hands-on labs and contextualized coursework, preparing them for the roles they'll need to advance without having to leave their employer of choice.

This role sits on the Product team which is part of our larger Engineering, Product and Design division. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Scope and deliver updates to our learning platform and experience: Work with engineers to identify and scope the business-critical work needed to keep our core learning product reliable and scalable. Identify ways to increase the velocity of the engineers and learning designers who build in our learning platform.
  • Develop internal tools for delivering insights and functionality that remove bottlenecks to growth: Work with our learning design team, program operations specialists, marketing team and coaches to deeply understand their operational workflows and tools and identify ways to make them more scalable. Scope and manage the release of critical internal tools that make operations more scalable.
  • Leverage product analytics to shape the evolution of our strategy: Serve as an internal expert on our product analytics, helping build and monitor dashboards and providing data-driven insights into how our product and business strategy should evolve.
  • Prioritize critical infrastructure and platform work: You will collaborate with engineers to identify key system and platform improvements, define requirements that align with stakeholder and business objectives, and facilitate decisions that balance user needs with technical priorities.
  • Build strong relationships: You will need to build strong relationships with our engineering team as well as key stakeholders throughout all divisions of our company to drive the product work forward while ensuring internal team processes and relationships remain strong.

  • Experienced Product Manager – You have at least 5 years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably working on internal tools. You can cite a clear track record of delivering product functionality that achieved business goals.
  • Startup Experience – You have at least 2 years of experience working in a startup environment. You can describe how you’ve maintained a positive and constructive attitude and demonstrated flexibility when navigating changing circumstances. You should have knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau and Amplitude and be comfortable learning other tools.
  • Excellent Communicator and Relationship Builder– You are a clear and persuasive written and oral communicator who can present ideas to executives, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders and also listen to and effectively synthesize their ideas and input. You are able to build buy-in and support for your projects from company leadership.
