Summary:
The Accounts Payable & Compliance Manager is responsible for the overall management of the accounts payable department, including the processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures, as well as experience with AP software. They will also be able to manage independently to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. This role will report to the Corporate Controller.

The compensation package includes a $75,000-$115,000 base salary, bonus eligibility, and benefits based on applied experience, geographic location, and other factors identified by the hiring committee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain tax compliance related liabilities, including various State filings, remittances, portals, and liaise with outside tax experts
  • Oversee the month-end closing process for expenses and cost of revenue, ensuring that all expected/invoices are either processed or accrued into the correct fiscal period of benefit in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage and process vendors and payments, including the creation of vendor files, invoice matching, and payment processing, while maintaining sync between financial systems, subledgers and the GL ledger in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage and maintain prepaid expenses and reporting, ensuring that all expenses are properly tracked, reconciled, and amortized into the correct period of benefit in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage and maintain Amex corporate credit card payments and reporting, ensuring that all charges are authorized and properly documented.
  • Manage expense reports and reimbursements, ensuring that all reports are submitted on time and that all expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
  • Design and implement a new PO system along with a new NetSuite ERP implementation, ensuring that the system meets the needs of the department and the company, having adequate internal controls in accordance with GAAP and in-line with public company standards.
  • Assist with quarterly Expense budget vs. Actual review meetings with Mursion leaders who are budget owners, and identify action areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting or a related field.
  • 2-5 years payroll Compliance experience (not processing payroll itself), including processing payroll journal entries, liaising with payroll provider, ensure withholdings and remittances are timely and accurate, assisting with worker's compensation insurance and other related payroll responsibilities
  • 2-5 years sales & use tax/excise tax Compliance experience including registering in States, managing filings triggered by thresholds, managing payments/remittances and reconciling liabilities, managing web portals for States, ensuring overall accuracy of Sales related Compliance within the US
  • 5+ years of experience in accounts payable management, ideally within a public company.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with AP software, ideally having AP and PO NetSuite experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
