At Instructure, we believe in the power of people to grow and succeed throughout their lives. Our goal is to amplify that power by creating intuitive products that simplify learning and personal development, facilitate meaningful relationships, and inspire people to go further in their education and careers.
We do this by giving smart, creative, passionate people opportunities to create awesome. And that's where you come in:

We are looking for a senior-level project manager who enjoys managing multiple, dynamic, and fast-paced projects that deliver customized solutions to meet our customers’ specific needs.

What you will do:

We bring to life our clients’ vision for enhancing learning by building custom applications/solutions that go beyond our core software offerings. How do we do it?

  • Orchestrate Delivery: Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent custom software solutions, ensuring rigorous adherence to scope, budget, and timeline within the Canvas LMS ecosystem.

  • Strategic Relationship Management: Cultivate high-trust partnerships with clients, managing expectations through proactive communication and sophisticated change management to maintain project integrity.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive collaboration between external stakeholders and internal teams—including Solutions Architecture, Engineering, UI/UX, QA, Customer Success, and Sales—to deliver complex technical requirements and successfully navigate through User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Risk Mitigation & Accountability: Oversee the full project lifecycle, implementing robust risk mitigation strategies and maintaining high levels of accountability across all development phases.

  • Data-Driven Reporting: Leverage enterprise tools (Salesforce, JIRA, Smartsheet, Confluence, PSA software) to maintain precise data integrity, providing executive-level reporting on project health, resource utilization, and financial performance.

  • Product Subject Matter Knowledge: Develop understanding in Instructure’s product suite to act as part of the strategic advisory team for custom development and services opportunities.

What you will need to know/have:

  • Proven Experience: A minimum of 5+ years as a lead Project Manager in a technical environment, with a demonstrable track record of managing high-stakes, client-facing custom software projects.

  • Methodological Mastery: Expert-level command of both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, specifically as applied to fixed-scope/fixed-fee client engagements.

  • Professional Certification: PMP or Scrum Master certifications are preferred.

  • Technical Literacy: Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including experience managing technical integrations involving APIs and LTI standards.

  • AI-Enhanced Execution: A forward-thinking approach to project management, including the practical application of Generative AI tools to automate status reporting, enhance documentation, and improve day-to-day processes.

  • Executive Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical complexities to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making at the executive level.

  • Operational Excellence: High professional stamina with a meticulous eye for detail and the organizational mastery required to navigate complex, fast-paced environments.

  • Collaborative Demeanor: A composed and constructive approach to feedback, with the ability to maintain a positive, high-performance team culture under pressure.

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Industry Context: Prior experience in the LMS/EdTech industry or within a professional services firm specializing in custom SaaS solutions is highly desirable.
