Overview of Role:
We are seeking a talented Credit Strategy Modeler to join our fast-growing startup and play a key role in shaping and maintaining Climb’s Credit and Collections forecasting and analytics. This individual will be responsible for developing and optimizing credit loss models, credit profitability models along with strategy simulations. The ideal candidate will have strong Credit, Collections, Finance and a forecasting background. This role requires a proven ability to generate insights and deliver clear, actionable analysis to diverse stakeholders. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Operations, Product, and Senior Leadership to ensure credit performance exceeds targets. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data analysis and manipulation, experience with analytical tools and technologies, and a proven ability to generate insights that lead to actionable recommendations for key stakeholders. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Head of Credit.
Responsibilities:

Model Development
Develop and implement loss forecasting and profitability models including Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, and cash flow projections.
Validate data assumptions and statistical techniques (e.g., regression, time series, machine learning).
Utilize advanced analytical techniques to identify trends and patterns in data
Identify potential risks and opportunities through data analysis and make recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities

Model Production and Maintenance
Ongoing monthly production of models
Testing of model stability and continued relevance
Stress testing scenario development and implementation
Conduct thorough analysis and interpretation of data to identify key insights and recommendations
Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in data modeling techniques, and regulatory requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with operations, finance, data engineering, and risk governance teams.
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide analytical support
Provide training and support to team members on data modeling and forecasting techniques
Model Governance
Prepare thorough model documentation covering design, data, methodology, limitations, and use.
Partner with Model Risk Management for independent validation and periodic reviews.
Support audit and regulatory reviews with clear and complete artifacts.
Skills and Experience:

Need to have:
3+ years of experience in financial services in an analytical or quantitative role
3+ years of experience in credit risk modeling or financial modeling
3+years of experience with data mining and structure. Experience with relational databases and analytical tools such as SQL, Python, R or similar applications
Strong knowledge of analytical methodologies and problem solving skills
Attention to detail and numbers with a big picture view to quickly grasp and understand complex problems, impacts and concepts
Data: Strong SQL query skills (dont need DBA)
Microsoft or Google Office Suite (xls skills a must)
Business Intelligence Tool experience
